You may be confused to differ between English and continental knitting tutorial. Actually, the knitting result is the same, only the processing technique is different. Continental style is also known as left hand knitting or European knitting technique using the left hand. To start doing this, you need to:
- Hold one of the knitting needles (with Cast On/CO) and knitting yarn on the left hand. Then wrap the yard ball on the index finger and leave the yard end hanging.
- Hold the pair’s knitting needle on the right hand, then, insert the tip of the right needle from front to back in the first stitch of CO.
- Connect the yard ball to the right end of the needle and pull the thread out.
- Push up the first CO puncture in the left needle until it is removed with the help of the thumb.
- As the result, there is 1 stitch in the right hand while the number of stitches in the left needle decreases 1.
- Repeat steps 2-4 until all the stitches on the left needle move to the right needle.
- After all the stitches are moved to the right needle, you have finished the first row.
- The last step in continental knitting tutorial , to make the second row and so on, move the right needle to your left hand again and start knitting as in steps 1-6 to get the length you need.
